I’m concerned about our country. It has become divisive and intolerant. Case in point – the nomination to the Supreme Court of Brett Kavanaugh and all that came with it. Many people think this was about Democrats versus Republicans, but it was really a battle between good and evil.
It scares me that in a country that spouts “innocent before proven guilty” that we are condemning people – not just in the case Brett Kavanaugh – regardless whether he was guilty or innocent. But the glaring thing this confirmation hearing showed was that many of us in this country are leaving NO ROOM for redemption. Someone could have had an indiscretion as a young person, decided to never do it again (repent) and never does do it again, but it can come back and condemn a life of good and ruin a person for good.
This is where I will lose some people because they may not believe there is a God. But we forget that sin is sin. There is no degree of sin in God’s eyes – it’s all disgusting. Murder, lying, gossip, adultery and envy are equally bad in God’s eyes. We erroneously think that our sin is not as great as someone else’s, but that’s not the case. All sin is equally bad – PERIOD. Jesus says – even if you never do a certain sin, but you have it in your heart – you are guilty of that sin. That’s even more condemning for us!
It’s so easy to sin. We – every living human being – do it daily. That means we need forgiveness daily. We are all imperfect. We have all hurt someone and have the need for forgiveness from that person. We have all lied and cheated somehow. Condemning others is not our job, but God’s!
For us to get a thrill for pointing out someone else’s sin, means we are aligned with the devil. He’s the one that stands before God taunting Him about our sins. Satan gets tickled when we follow his lead. The Lord stands for forgiveness and love. If we love our fellow man, we will not be doing our best to see if we can make him/her fall or keep dinging him/her with everything he’s/she’s done wrong. We should follow the Lord’s example and extend our hand in love and forgiveness and not hold that sin against them.
This infighting in our country is about one group thinking they are better than the other. It is a fight for control to stomp on the other party and grind them under their heels. You can put any label you want on it – Democrat vs Republican, rich vs poor, right vs left – the label doesn’t matter. It shows that we are becoming a power grubbing (on all sides), unforgiving and hateful country. The greater good has been lost and EVERYONE is to blame.
We are – until Satan and His minions influence this change – one nation under God whether you believe in Him or not. It’s time we started acting like it. If we keep following this evil course we have set, God will forsake us because we’ve already turned so far away from Him. It’s time to put God and all He stands for back into our country in every way and place we can. This will allow our country to be more positive in its interaction with one another and other countries and not allow evil to win out.
if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. 2 Chronicles 7:1
